The grassroots surfing competition, hosted by Shorebreak Surfing Club and Shorebreak Surfing Ministry, provided a platform for rising young talents and seasoned surfers to show their prowess on the waves.

Organiser, Rudolph Fourie, said that the surf conditions were ideal and the turnout made for a wonderful showcase of the depth of surfing talent on Amanzimtoti.

Winners crowned

In the open men’s final, Luc LePront claimed top honours with a commanding performance, followed by Gary van Wieringen in second place and Avuyile Ndamase in third. The under-12 division allowed the next generation of surfers to shine, with Grayson Pictor claiming first, Chayt Neil Daniels finishing second and Reeve Bryant rounding out the podium in third.

“Beyond the surf, the festival created a vibrant atmosphere that brought the community together, from families and supporters to beachgoers and tourists. All united in celebrating the ocean lifestyle that defines Amanzimtoti. On behalf of the organisers, I would like to thank all partners, volunteers and service teams who played a crucial role in delivering a safe, exciting event,” said Rudolph.

With the undeniable momentum stirred up by the event, the club plans to continue building a premier platform for developing surfers. Rudolph concluded by saying if this year’s fest was anything to go by, next year’s event is set to be bigger, louder and make even greater waves.
