The pair was arrested after being found in possession of suspected drugs. The first suspect, 37, was arrested on Rajmahal Road in Merebank.
Gumede said the police searched the suspect and found:
- Rock cocaine
- Red and white heroin capsules.
The joint police operation involved Wentworth Metro Crime Prevention Street unit and Crime Prevention A group.
“The officers were conducting an observation on Rajmahal Road, Merebank, when they noticed a known drug peddler jumping out from a car in the parking lot. The officers immediately approached the suspect and searched him. Upon conducting a search of his bag, the police found the drugs with an estimated street value of R1405. He was arrested and charged with possession of drugs,” said Gumede.
After searching the first suspect, the police approached the vehicle and found a 40-year-old man inside whom they identified as the driver, and searched him.
Police found small packets of rock cocaine in the car.
