Montclair resident receives three-year conviction
The accused, Andre van Jaarsveldt was sentenced for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at the Wentworth Magistrate's Court.
A MONTCLAIR resident, Andre van Jaarsveldt (41), was sentenced to three years and three months in prison for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Van Jaarsveldt appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court recently where he was convicted of the charges.
According to Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini, the accused was arrested in November 2024 after his father called the police following their altercation at their home in Woodlands.

“The police were informed about the man in possession of an unlicensed firearm. A team of officers was dispatched to the residence. The suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He was charged accordingly and taken to Montclair police station. He made his first court appearance at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court,” said Dlamini.
