Clairwood robbers sentenced to 12 years each

Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini, who led the investigating team, confirmed that all four accused were arrested the month following the incident.

THREE men have each been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment at the Durban Regional Court recently for a case of business robbery committed on February 2023 in Clairwood.

Banele Pablo Nxumalo (28), Dawood Adini (23) and Mancoba Nxumalo (28) were sentenced for a business robbery that occurred on South Coast Road.

A fourth accused, Lyford Munyande, had already received a 12-year sentence after pleading guilty and is currently serving time at Westville Prison.

According to the investigating officer Sergeant Bhekumuzi Dlamini the four accused stormed into a business premises and stole R1500 cash and several cellphones.

The incident was reported to Montclair police station and a case of business robbery was opened. Dlamini, who led the investigating team, confirmed that all four accused were arrested the month following the incident.

He noted that a significant effort went into gathering evidence to secure the convictions and expressed satisfaction that justice had been served with the sentencing of all those involved.
