A co-ordinated operation comprising Durban Metro Police Service, private security, and the SAPS spotted a car travelling at high speed after coming off the M25 and heading towards the N2 southbound.
“As pressure mounted and members closed in the suspects abandoned the vehicle on the N2 southbound in an attempt to evade arrest. The Volkswagen Polo was found partially stripped,” said Zungu in a statement.
Preliminary investigations confirmed the vehicle was linked to a Brighton Beach case.
“This recovery highlights the value of strong co-operation between law enforcement agencies and private security in the fight against vehicle theft syndicates and other serious crimes,” Zungu added.
