Metro police crack down on illegal immigrants

The recent operation targeted undocumented foreign nationals in Clairwood. All the arrested individuals are expected to appear in court.

METRO police continue with their operations targeting illegal immigrants in eThekwini District. Recently, officers conducted an operation in Clairwood and arrested illegal immigrants.

The Durban Metro Police Service By-law Enforcement Unit from the South Region conducted an operation in Clairwood, resulting in the arrest of illegal immigrants.

During the operation, officers acted on identified non-compliance with immigration and municipal regulations. The individuals were taken into custody and processed.

Metro police said in a statement, “The Durban Metro Police Service remains committed to enforcing municipal by-laws, supporting lawful compliance, and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and order of all communities.”

Some members of the public applauded metro police for their swift action in arresting undocumented illegal immigrants.

Public relations officer for the Clairwood Ratepayers and Residents Association, Ravin Brijlal, said, “Continued enforcement is important to ensure compliance with immigration laws. South Africa strictly regulates residency, and undocumented foreign nationals must follow legal procedures.”

The arrested individuals are expected to soon appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court for violating the Immigration Act.
