Wentworth police urge faith groups to help fight crime

The aim of a planned community meeting is to address socio-economic contributors to crime in the Wentworth policing precinct.

IN a bid to take bold measures against crime, the management of the Wentworth police station has called on faith-based organisations, including theologians within their precinct, to take proactive steps to prevent crime.

Station commander for Wentworth police station, Colonel Sinayo Mtshali, believes that working together with faith-based organisations can help deter crime in the community.

“As a collective responsibility together, we aim to  develop common approaches and objectives to fight crime further, to recognise partnership as a very effective way of tackling crime and related issues,” said Mtshali in a statement.

Churches are invited to a public meeting at Gardenia Primary School Hall on April 23 at 11:00.

The aim of the meeting is to address socio-economic contributors to crime in the Wentworth policing precinct.
