Woman appears in Wentworth court on drug charge

According to a police report, the suspect was among three people who were arrested for possession of drugs at the same property earlier this year.

A WOMAN from Merebank who was charged with possession of drugs appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court today (June 10).

Amanda Denise Maistry (48) was arrested in Indore Road, Merebank, on June 9.

A source told the Sun that members of the Durban Metro Police Street Crime Unit and Wentworth Crime Prevention executed a search warrant at a residence in Indore Road, Merebank.

With the assistance of a police sniffer dog, police found 413 heroin capsules at the property. The accused was arrested and charged for possession of drugs.

According to a police report, the Maistry has pending cases and was previously arrested in March alongside two family members on drug possession charges.

Maistry, Bevin Kyle Maistry, 28 and Kristen Wymane, 29 were arrested at their home in Merebank during a joint police operation on March 4.

They appeared at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on March 5, however, the case was adjourned for further investigations.
