Free entrepreneurial start-up workshop: Durban South residents encouraged to apply

The Durban South Training Centre is offering residents a chance to gain invaluable information at their business workshop.

THE Durban South Training Centre welcomes aspiring entrepreneurs as well as existing entrepreneurs to avail themselves for a great chance to develop their business and technical skills in a free entrepreneurship development programme. The programme aims to empower individuals interested in establishing or expanding their businesses in the industry.

The burglar guard and gate manufacturing programme is designed to equip participants with advanced technical expertise and essential business knowledge, setting them up for long-term success in this highly competitive market.

Key benefits of the programme:

  • 10 days of on-the-job training in arc welding, fabrication and product design.
  • Business skills in building, such as pricing strategies, marketing, and customer procurement.
  • Industry-recognised certification, enhancing credibility and job opportunities.
  • Compliance training for safety as per industry standards.
  • Assistance with business registration, i.e. CIPC registration support.

Who can apply?

  • Entrepreneurs in their youth willing to start a business in burglar guard and gate manufacturing.
  • Welders with existing businesses looking to enhance their skills and methods.
  • Individuals interested in creating a sustainable business in a thriving industry.

Aside from the welding and fabrication training, the Durban South Training Centre is also conducting a 16-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme with training in:

  • Business set-up and financial management: Learn CIPC registration, budgeting, tax compliance and financial planning.
  • Marketing and brand strategy: Gain skills in social media marketing, e-commerce and customer acquisition.
  • Legal and compliance guidance: Learn UIF, CSD registration and tender applications.
  • Project management and sales Mastery: Develop revenue strategies, customer retention techniques and business expansion skills.
  • Practical business operations: Develop leadership, HR management and communication skills.

How to apply?

Suitably qualified candidates are required to present the following documents at Durban South Training Centre, 20 Grimsby Road, Mobeni:

  • Updated CV
  • ID copy certified
  • CIPC Registration Certificate (where applicable)
  • Applicable qualifications (where applicable)
  • Motivational letter stating the reasons why they are eligible for a place in the programme and how it contributes to their business goals.
