Proteas win toss and bowl in crucial Netherlands ODI

Direct qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup is up for grabs and the Proteas will be desperate to force a positive result.


The Proteas won the toss and chose to bowl first in their crucial ODI against the Netherlands at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Friday afternoon.

With direct qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup up for grabs, the Proteas need to try and force a result to give them the best possible chance of getting through.

But with plenty of rain forecast it is likely Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma is hoping that his gun bowling attack, featuring the returning Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje who were rested for the West Indies ODI series, can bowl the visitors out cheaply and that they can chase the score down before the scheduled rain takes hold.
