Funeka can be King Of The Castle

Jockey Gift Funeka has had a good season and has done well aboard King Of The Castle, so the combination looks the one to beat in Race 5 on the Polytrack at Fairview today.

A switch from the sand in Kimberley to the yard of Yvette Bremner has certainly brought out the best in the Rebel King gelding with two wins and two placings coming in his four local starts.

It is also worth noting that Funeka was the rider in both his recent wins.

Recently we have had a number of start-to-finish winners in Port Elizabeth, Flamingo Park and Kenilworth, with King Of The Castle being among them.

King Of The Castle was allowed a soft lead and he was never really in danger of defeat. The same tactics are more than likely going to be employed as he does have a wide draw to overcome. There are a number of dangers though.

The Alan Greeff-Greg Cheyne combination was in good form on Friday and Masterly has to be respected. The gelding made a promising debut for his new yard when fourth behind King Of The Castle last time. The gelding was caught too far out his ground and was running on late. Positive tactics would suit Masterly.

Lago Cuomo, Rocket Rider and Victory Emblem all have recent form that could see them involved with the finish. Deepo was a shock winner of her latest but benefited from an extremely fast pace and will need that to happen again.
