Chippa United coach Malesela in hospital – report

Chippa United coach Dan Malesela was reportedly admitted to a PE hospital with a suspected heart problem.

Chippa chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi confirmed to Dispatch Live that Malesela did not travel with the team that will play Bidvest Wits at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Tuesday night.

“This is painful to all of us, but unfortunately it’s beyond our control. He felt the pain in his chest yesterday [Sunday] in training and went to see a doctor,” Mpengesi is quoted as saying by Dispatch Live.

“I spoke to him and he told me about the pain, but after an hour, I heard that his condition became serious and he was taken to hospital. I think it’s something to do with his heart but I’m not sure; but it’s got to do with a heart condition.

“We are so sad and shocked by this but we can’t control God’s will. We wish him a speedy recovery.”

Assistant coach Mbuyiselo Sambu is expected to lead the side against Wits on Tuesday night.

Contacted for comment manager for marketing and communications Luthando Zibeko told Phakaaathi that the club will issue a statement on the matter.
