Chiefs give Komphela big vote of confidence

Steve Komphela will see out his contract at Kaizer Chiefs, a Phakaaathi source has revealed.

The 49-year-old mentor still has a year to go on his contract with Amakhosi and despite mounting pressure from supporters to have him relieved of his duties, the club’s management still believe in him.

“Steve is going nowhere, he still has a year left on his contract and will be in charge next season. The management have decided to keep faith in him,” said the source.

Both Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung and football manager Bobby Motaung have recently voiced their support for the coach. But the source said things might change because football is an unpredictable game.

“We will know for sure at the end of the season. Football is a funny game and can never be too sure of anything,” he added.

Amakhosi have had two consecutive barren seasons since Komphela took over from Stuart Baxter.
