Former Swallows employee takes club to court – report

Former Moroka Swallows midfielder Andries Mpondo has reportedly taken the club to court for money owed to him and other former employees.

According to the Sunday Sun, Mpondo took legal action against the club for not paying him his salary while working as a development coach before the club was liquidated.

The Sunday newspaper reports that money owed by the club to eight former club employees amounts to over R2-million.

“We were provided with documents that show the final liquidation of Moroka Swallows Football Club was done on 20 November 2018,” read court documents as reported by the Sunday Sun.

“In September, I approached Trevor Ramodike to find out how far the liquidation was as we weren’t getting feedback. We wanted to know who was going to pay us, but he didn’t give us a straight answer.

“To this day, we haven’t received any funds from the club or liquidators. During 2014 the chairman of Moroka Swallows Football Club, Mr Leon Prins, called us to a meeting to inform us the club was facing financial problems and there may be some pay cuts and retrenchments.”
