Chiefs suffer Booysen blow

Kaizer Chiefs defender Mario Booysen has joined the growing list of injured players at Amakhosi.

Coach Ernst Middendorp confirmed Booysen will not be available for Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup round of 32 clash with Tornado FC on Sunday.

“One player who is definitely not available for us is Mario Booysen for example. He’s getting some specific treatment in terms of an issue he has, and of course, we’re not taking him,” Middendorp told reporters on Wednesday.

Booysen joins the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Lebogang Manyama, Lorenzo Gordinho, Eric Mathoho, Joseph Molangoane and Wiseman Meyiwa on the injury list.

Middendorp also revealed that midfielder George Maluleka is also doubtful for Sunday’s clash.

“A little bit of a question mark this morning at training is George Maluleka, it’s a little bit in and out and we’re not 100% sure. He has a calf problem again and we want to verify. He has an appointment this evening (Wednesday), then we’ll know more.”
