Chiefs legend Radebe slams Middendorp’s derby tactics

Kaizer Chiefs legend Lucas Radebe has questioned Ernst Middendorp’s decision to bring on defensive players in the second half during the Soweto derby.

Amakhosi played to a 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs took the lead and were dominate in the first half, but failed to keep the foot on the pedal in the second half and allowed Pirates back into the game, leading to the Bucs equaliser by Thembinkosi Lorch.

“There were no game changers [on the bench]. Did they bring on Katsande because they did not have anybody else? There’s a question mark on bringing Mphahlele in,” Radebe is quoted as saying by Sport24.

“I was expecting more from Ekstein. I know he is that kind of player that can take players on, be involved and give passes and create opportunities for the strikers. I was impressed with Hadebe and Khama Billiat.”
