AmaZulu rubbishes Johnson sacking rumours

Lunga Sokhela says coach Cavin Johnson will not be sacked by AmaZulu at the end of the season.

Phakaaathi reported this week that the AmaZulu management was not happy with how the team has progressed under Johnson.

Sokhela has confirmed that the management is indeed unhappy about AmaZulu’s inconsistency, but added that Usuthu were not ready to axe Johnson yet.

“Our position on the league table is not good at all, you can’t beat Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City and Sundowns then struggle to get a point from Maritzburg, Chippa United and Free State Stars,” Sokhela told Isolezwe.

“I have been at the club since 2006. Changing coaches doesn’t benefit the team at all. The coach needs to stay with the team for him to know the team better, another one will come here and change what the other had built.

“Johnson is not going anywhere, he will still be at the club. There might be changes in his technical team but he will be the head coach because we want to continue building.”

AmaZulu are currently in position 11 on the Absa Premiership log with two games left to play before the end of the season.
