Broos announces preliminary Bafana squad for Morocco game

The preliminary squad will be trimmed to 23 players early next month.


Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 34-man preliminary squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against FIFA World Cup semi-finalists Morocco next month.

The preliminary squad will be trimmed to 23 players early next month when Broos announces his final list for the eagerly anticipated match.

Broos has included in-form Stellenboch FC striker Iqraam Rayners in his squad. Rayners has been in prolific form since joining Stellies from SuperSport United.

Also included in the squad are Given Msimango and Kobamelo Kodisang, who have been in good form for TS Galaxy and Moreirense respectively.

Njabulo Blom, who missed the 2-1 defeat to Morocco, has also made his return to the squad.

Bafana and Morocco have both qualified for the continental tournament to be held in Côte d’Ivoire on 13 January – 11 February 2024.

The Bafana squad:
