Cape Town City likely to sign Steven Pienaar
Cape Town City have indicated an interest in signing Steven Pienaar ahead of next season.
Pienaar is expected to make a return to the Absa Premier league next season after English Premiership side Sunderland did not renew his contract.
The former Bafana Bafana skipper was with Sunderland for one season, and is set to move on from the team back to South Africa with Citizens’ boss John Comitis waiting in the wing with his cheque book.
“Steven is a great player,” said Comitis. “We are just waiting to see what he is going to do, and what his decision is.”
Eric Tinkler’s side have already unveiled a big name player in Ayanda Patosi who is returning from Europe after playing for K.S.C. Lokeren in Belgium from 2011.
According to Sunderland Echo the veteran midfielder would like to return to his home town in Cape Town as he winds down his careers.
