City tease beaten Chiefs over ‘Kaizer Chips’ business venture

Some even joked that City must have had some ‘Kaizer Chips’ before the game, giving them the extra 'nutrition' to secure the win.

Cape Town City couldn’t resist poking some fun at Kaizer Chiefs, who recently made headlines by announcing their very own ‘Kaizer Chips’ that will soon hit store shelves.

All Chiefs wanted was for their fans to enjoy the game while munching on their new snack sensation.

Chiefs spokesperson Vina Maphosa proudly presented these chips during a pre-match media conference at Naturena on Monday.

This was in the build-up to their DStv Premiership match against City at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, where Khanyisa Mayo scored the crucial goal in a 1-0 win for the visitors.

After the game, City had a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun. They posted a picture of their ‘own brand’ of chips.

The only difference between Chiefs and theirs is that City’s chips are seasoned with “three points” instead of the salt and vinegar, grilled steak and tomato flavours of the Kaizer chips.

Chiefs chips gave City the power to knock them out

And that got the fans talking. Some fans argued that Citizens were out of line for mocking Amakhosi for their new business venture aimed at maximising streams of income for the club.

But, for the most part, people took it in good humour. They saw it as just another playful jab in the world of football banter.

Some even joked that City must have had some ‘Kaizer Chips’ before the game, giving them the extra “nutrition” to secure the win.

All in all, it’s clear that these chips are going to be the subject of some light-hearted banter, especially if the Naturena side doesn’t perform up to par.

Football fans always find a way to add some fun to the game, don’t they? And Chiefs just handed them content on a platter.

Some fans have said that they will enjoy ‘snacking’ on Amakhosi on the sidelines while they wait for their favourite clubs to do the same on the field.
