Leeuwenburgh was booked during an Absa Premiership game against Bidvest Wits where he was thought to have tackled striker Simon Murray inside the penalty box.
Murray was awarded a penalty for his brilliant dive and he converted it.
The review committee acknowledges that the referee made a mistake by awarding a penalty and a booking for Leeuwenburgh.
“The correct decision should have been an indirect free kick against Bidvest wits, as well as a yellow card shown to the Bidvest Wits player for simulation,” read a statement from Safa.
