Former Banyana Banyana captain Desiree Ellis is still in the dark regarding her future with the senior nation team after she was given the head coach role on interim basis following the departure of Vera Pauw.
“Nothing yet, everybody just got back to work. The friendly match came, and we just jumped straight into it last month. So when everybody was on holiday, we were not. But, all I can I do is to prepare the team, and hopefully the team executes the plan, and the rest is up to the powers that be,” said Ellis.
The Banyana coach is currently in camp with the team ahead of a friendly match against France at Saint-Denis, Reunion Islands, on Saturday. And Ellis believes a good performance against the French national women team will convince the South African Football Association (Safa) to appoint her permanently.
“I think a good result will definitely do that, I cannot say whether it is promising or not, but I am still here, and it looks promising.”
