Pirates were knocked-out of the competition by Botswana outfit Jwaneng Galaxy 5-4 on penalties at Orlando Stadium on Friday.

The Soweto giants had set their eyes on going far in the continental tournament, but things didn’t go their way, much to the distress of their supporters, who came in big numbers at Orlando.

“We lost it in Botswana Joe.. I don’t even wanna say much about how Pirates approached this year’s Champions League.. the interest was never there from both technical (team) and players. Remember how we struggled in Seychelles?,” wrote @Karinaitor.

“Yhoo! I don’t have words. We are out… so embarrassing…Yes the team is under pressure now… they have to win MTN 8… or else. I still believe we have players, good players to compete…. But I don’t think they’re being utilised in a good way,” said @Ras_JAPHTA.

“Pirates underestimated Galaxy first leg and benefited.  We deserved to be knocked out,” @Rejoice_Ithe,” shared their thoughts.

“Pirates players are average like most other players in the PSL,” t_ongum said.

Jose Riveiro’s failure to progress in the Champions League has also created a lot of doubt regarding the team’s chances of defending the MTN8. Bucs will meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

“I don’t see us beating Sundowns member, let’s be honest,” @alrightMulaifa,” reckons.

“Sundowns will be crowned MTN8 Champions next weekend. I know this is not what you want to hear but truth needs to be told. On paper we look dangerous but come match day….that is where the disaster starts,” said @SabeloCebe2277.

“It’s really hurting, we don’t deserve this as supporters. They now need miracles to beat Sundowns whilst under this enormous pressure,” @QashaniMninawe added.
