Exciting Jesse to ‘Donn’ Matsatsantsa jersey for long, says club CEO
SuperSport chief CEO Stanley Matthews insists Donn will not leave Matsatsantsa anytime soon.

If there were an award for the most exciting youngster and breakthrough star this season, SuperSport United’s Jesse Donn would certainly be among those at the top of the contenders’ list, given his fine displays for Matsatsantsa A Pitori this so far this season. It comes as no surprise that there are already whispers in the corridors about a possible move away from United.

However, SuperSport chief executive officer, Stanley Matthews was very quick to debunk such talks and put any sort of rumour to bed as he insists that his 22-year-old midfielder is staying put at the capital city club.
“We don’t sign players to keep for a year. We sign them for three to five years and when they have done the job for us and shown us what they can do, done everything that the coach expects of them and helped us achieved our goals as a club, then we are more than happy to part way with players at the right time, the right price and the right deal for them too. With Bradley, clubs have come through and offered him stuff that weren’t enough for him to leave us,” said Matthews in a conversation with the South African Football Journalists Association.
In fact, if Donn were to move, he said he would prefer to go abroad and as he only recognizes SuperSport as his only home in South African football. But, of course, you have to take that with a pinch of salt as footballers don’t always stick to their words.
Remember when former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabragas gave anyone permission to kill him if he ever joined The Gunners’ rivals Chelsea? Long story short – the Spaniard is very much alive after spending five years at Chelsea, so don’t take Donn’s undying commitment to Matsatsantsa as a cast on stone vow.
Anyway, Matthews believes that if there is any opportunity to sell a young prospect like Donn, it could be to African giants Al-Ahly, or wherever Pitso Mosimane finds himself.
“If a guy like Pitso stays in the international market, he is the son and friend of the club. He is a bother to Kaitano Tembo and he met with our chairman (Khulu Sibiya) the last time he was here and there is a lot of possibilities that I will be doing business with Pitso in the near future,” said Matthews.
