I have seen worse than what happened at Moses Mabhida – Eymael

Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael says the pitch invasion at the Moses Mabhida Stadium was nothing compared to what he has experienced while coaching in some parts of Africa.

Eymael has coached a number of club in Africa, sides like As Vita, AFC Leopards and Rayon Sports.

The Ea Lla Koto mentor was reacting to the pitch invasion by Kaizer Chiefs fans that left 18 people injured over the weekend.

“Some of you don’t know that I have coached big teams in Africa, and won trophies. I had been in this kind of situation before, in fact worse,” Eymael told the media.

“We had to sit in the dressing room for three hours, locked in there because TP Mazembe fans were angry that we scored an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game.

“They damaged the stadium. For us to get out of the dressing room, we had to call the chairman of the club and he contacted the soldiers to come get us out of the stadium.

“But such thing shouldn’t happen in football.”
