Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef is in the dark about reports that their future hangs at the club beyond this season.

Reports indicate that Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team will leave at the end of the season despite winning the Nedbank Cup to end the club’s 10-year cup drought.

The Soweto giants have struggled in the Betway Premiership under Nabi and his backroom staff. They are currently in ninth position after 26 matches with just eight wins, 12 defeats and six draws.

Youssef was on Radio 2000 on Monday night to reflect on the successful run in the Nedbank Cup and when asked about his future at Amakhosi, he deflected the question to the Chiefs management.

“Our contracts are two years and we have one extra year. We saw it (reports) like you on social media today,” he said on the Game On Sports Show.

“To be honest with you, I received a lot of calls from yesterday to ask me about that but I don’t know where it’s coming from. I think the only one who can answer this is Mr Kaizer (Motaung Jr) and the Chairman,” added Youssef before commenting on his working relationship with Nabi.

“It’s the third season we work together with coach Nabi and we’re a family. He gives us a lot of responsibility to help him with the team in training and the game. There’s a lot of confidence in us, he trusts us and believes in us and he knows what we do for the team.

“The relationship on the technical bench is like a family because it’s not the first season we work together. Me, the fitness coach and goalkeeper coach have worked together for more than six years.”
