Komphela praises young Meyiwa

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela praised youngster Wiseman Meyiwa for a superb debut against Cape Town City.

Meyiwa made history when he scored his first goal for the senior team at age 17 at the Cape Town Stadium.

Komphela believes the youngster can grow in the team.

“How sweet can it ever be when a youngster at 18 [Meyiwa is 17 years plus eight months] plays like this? The only thing I was worried about was that he was going to lose energy as the game progresses,” Komphela told SuperSport TV.

“You could see at the end he was getting tired. He’s got heart like a lion, unbelievable. It is characteristic of a defensive central midfielder.

“This is the only game of your life when you’re allowed to make mistakes and nobody will blame you. When you do well, compliments go to you because they don’t know you.”
