Phakaaathi has learnt that among those who might be released are former Chiefs striker Jabu Manqele and Itumeleng Shopane.
GladAfrica Championship side Pretoria Callies are believed to have embarked on a salary bill cut and this could see a few of their big name players who are top earners released.

A source said the club is currently negotiating exit packages with some of those players who are considered too expensive.
“The management have complained about the high salary bill and the squad size which are both big. This has necessitated some cuts and the top earners will be the first to be cut,” said the source.
Phakaaathi has learnt that among those who might be released are former Kaizer Chiefs striker Jabu Manqele and Itumeleng Shopane.
The source however revealed that coach Joel Masutha was still trying to plead their case that the team needs them.
“The coach is fighting…He has pleaded with management to try and keep them because he says they are committed to the course and he needs them.”
