Pirates coach Micho banking on experienced players

Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic is banking on his experienced players to help guide the new players at the club in their race for the Absa Premiership title.

Players like Happy Jele, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Mpho Makola have won many trophies with the club before, while many new faces at the club are yet to lift any silverware with the team.

Bucs top the league with 47 points with only four games remaining in the campaign, three points ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns who are on second place with 44, but have two games in hand.

“Our confidence comes from the fact that we have players that are fully focussed, concentrated and four or five of them have won something in a Pirates jersey before because they are long-term players,” said Sredojevic.

“But so many of them have not won anything, therefore the motivation is sky-rocketing and everyone wants to give their best. Players playing, those coming in as substitutes, on the bench. We have the correct atmosphere to now push us to focus on the next game, for which there is very limited time to prepare.”

Bucs will be looking to stretch their lead at the top when they host Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
