Pirates coach Mokwena quits Twitter

Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena has confirmed that he closed his Twitter account after taking over as the Sea Robbers head coach.

Mokwena kept his Twitter account updated while he was still the assistant coach at the club, but since Micho Sredojevic’s resignation, Mokwena has been off Twitter.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach revealed that he had stopped using the social media platform to get his “peace and sanity.”

“Look‚ I think it’s more spiritual than anything. It was not about trying to evade the criticism and the noise. Criticism will always be there even if we win games,” Mokwena explained to SowetanLive.

“We will always be criticised and that’s the nature of the beast. You’ve got to accept it when you work in an environment such as Orlando Pirates.

“But like I say‚ it had nothing to do with me closing my account‚ it’s more religious and it’s for my own sanity and my own peace.”
