Pirates victory marred by attack on TS Galaxy owner

A video emerges of Pirates security attacking Tim Sukazi.

Orlando Pirates got back to winning ways as they beat TS Galaxy 2-0 to climb up to second spot on the DStv Premiership Standings at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.

The match, however, was preceded by a disturbing video ahead of kick off that recorded Buccaneers’ security manhandling Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi, while he was trying to get into the ground to watch his team.

The Buccaneers had total control of the game, not something new from the club from Soweto, looking at how they played their previous games, but previously they just couldn’t get it right when it came to finding the back of the net.

Pirates took the lead early in the game, as a good chance came in for defender Bandile Shandu in the 15th minute, with the former Maritzburg United player’s first time volley being saved by the Rockets keeper Marlon Heugh, who couldn’t hold on to the ball and Shandu’s second attempt was powerful enough to find the back of the net to give the Buccaneers the lead.

The strike was also Shandu’s first ever for Pirates.

Galaxy weren’t making any threats in the Pirates’ box, with their attacks failing to go into the Soweto giant’s dangerous areas thanks to some solid defending by the Pirates back-four.

In the 28th minute, Kwame Peprah was unfortunate not to also get his first goal for the club, after some nice play with Deon Hotto saw him one on one with Heugh, but the striker’s shot was denied by the cross-bar.

Pirates finished the half dominant and Galaxy almost shot themselves on the foot when Ebrahim  Seedat’s clearance luckily went wide.

The second half saw Pirates once again on top of the visitors, and they didn’t take long to extend the lead as Collins Makgaka made it 2-0 for the Soweto giants just 10 minutes in the second half.

Galaxy were trying very hard to try and fight their way back into the game, but their attempts were just not going in as Ndwande and Masilake Phohlongo’s shots were dealt with well by Siyabonga Mpontshane in the Bucs goal.

Pirates still remained superior throughout the game, and Thembikosi Lorch had an opportunity to make it 3-0 in the dying moments of the game with a lobbed ball, but it went wide.

However, the result was enough to see Pirates accumulate 23 points after 15 games and climb up to second place on the log, while Mpumalanga -based Galaxy are in 13th spot with 12 points from the same number of games.
