Galaxy winger looking to upset Pirates again

'I will forever cherish (the goal against Pirates), it was my debut also,' saod Masilake Phohlongo.

Going to Orlando Stadium brings back some great memories for TS Galaxy winger Masilake Phohlongo, even though he knows he starts on a clean slate when the Rockets take on Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday in Soweto.

The Rockets star scored his first goal for the club at Orlando last season on his debut, as the Mpumalanga based outfit played to a 1-1 draw with the Buccaneers, after Phohlongo canceled out Bongani Sam’s goal in a league clash.

Having won their last game 3-1 against Chippa United, while the Buccaneers played to a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu FC, Phohlongo believes they have a good chance of winning their tie against the Soweto giants.

“I think for me personally it was a good thing to score two goals against Pirates, but now it is a new season, they are a good side and we respect that. But on the field it is obviously 11 v 11, and we won our last game and they drew. So, I think we have a better chance of getting something there. We will go there and fight, that is the most important thing,” said the Galaxy attacker.

“I will forever cherish (the goal against Pirates), it was my debut also. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting it. But it shows when you work hard anything is possible. So, on Saturday we will go there and work as a team and do our best, if we do that, the result will follow.”

Galaxy will be keen to record their second successive win, with the main aim being climbing up the league standings after starting the season poorly. They are on 12 points after 14 games, while the Soweto giants are in seventh place with 20 points from the same number of matches.
