Sekhukhune sign former Chiefs and Galaxy defenders

Sekhukhune went into the Fifa break sitting in position 15.


In their effort to try and build a solid squad to end the season well, Sekhukhune United have acquired the services of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Philani Zulu and TS Galaxy centre back Mzwanele Mahashe for the last few months of the campaign.

Sekhukhune went into the Fifa break sitting in position 15th on the league standings, after only two wins in the 12 games played this campaign.

The club announced their latest additions on Tuesday.

“With the preparations for the last round matches of the 2022/23 DStv Partnership League season in full swing, Sekhukhune United Football Club are delighted to announce the latest additions to the squad, Mzwanele Mahashe and Philani Zulu,” read a statement from the club.

“Mahashe revealed that he is looking forward to the new challenges in this new environment. He is going to work hard for consideration in the starting line-up to assist the team to turn a corner in the league.”

Meanwhile, Zulu is said to be excited about joining Babina Noko and wants to help the team finish the season in a respectable position on the log.

“Zulu is excited to be part of Babina Noko family as he will be reunited with his former coach Brandon Truter, whom he worked with at AmaZulu for three months last season. He wants to make a significant impact by ensuring that the team finishes in a respectable position. Sekhukhune United FC would like to welcome Mahashe and Zulu to the Babina Noko family.”

Sekhukhune will resume their season with a home tie against Zulu’s former team Usuthu on the 31st of December at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
