Sekhukhune United confirm Brandon Truter exit

Sekhukhune are set to appoint Lehlohonolo Seema as their new head coach.


Sekhukhune United have confirmed that the club has parted ways with coach Brandon “Brakkies” Truter.

Last week, Phakaaathi reported that Babina Noko were set to give Truter the axe after the team was dumped out of the Carling Black Label Knockout by TS Galaxy.

On Wednesday, Sekhukhune confirmed the news of Truter’s exit via a club statement.  

“The club would like to confirm that it has parted ways with Head Coach Brandon Truter,” read the statement.

“Given the highly competitive environment that the Premier Soccer League has become, coupled with the fact that getting positive results has become a major safeguard, the Club has decided that the recent results have not reinforced this notion and thus the need to part ways with Coach ‘Brakkies.

“The Club would also like to confirm that it has released Goalkeeper Coach Hannes Absalom.
The duo left with immediate effect and the Club wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation for their dedication and hard work during their time with ‘Babina Noko’.

“Assistant Coach Macdonald Makhubedu assumed the role of Head Coach on an interim basis as the club prepares for an interesting assignment, away against RS Berkane in the Group Stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

“This match will be held at the Stade Municipal de Bon in Berkane, Morocco on Sunday, 26th November at 21:00 SAST.”

Meanwhile, as reported by this website this week, Sekhukhune are set to appoint Lehlohonolo Seema as their new head coach.

Seema surprisingly left Polokwane City this week. The former Orlando Pirates and Lesotho defender’s decision to leave Rise and Shine took many by surprise considering the impact he had made at the club.

Under his leadership, Polokwane won four, drew five and lost only three of their opening league matches.
