Thuswa breaks silence over Sundowns exit

Outgoing communications coordinator Thulani Thuswa says he decided to leave Mamelodi Sundowns to allow the club to start afresh in the new season.

Thuswa announced his exit at the club after he returned from suspension.

The club’s spokesperson was suspended from February but was brought back in a different role with Alex Shakoane taking over as the club’s communications coordinator.

It is alleged that coach Pitso Mosimane is heading for the exit door at Sundowns after falling out with club management and those close to the former African coach of the year are being targeted.

“As the club, we have had issues since February and we just could not find each other. The season is starting now and I thought let me get out of the way so that people don’t call me. Even during my suspension, I was helping out,” Thuswa told SAFM.

“I don’t want to comment on the president but the board was aware of what was happening… You guys can now speak to Alex Shakoane, he’s the new spokesperson. I’m emotional like Pitso, so I don’t want to say much.

“Some people thought I had an interest in the vlog boys and there was a lot of talk about that. But let’s not go there, I just saw a group of boys passionate about the club and that’s why I welcomed them at Sundowns,” said Thuswa.
