Zakri, Hachi make way for new Sundowns signings

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that striker Yannick Zakri and defender Fares Hachi were loaned out to open up two foreign spots at the club.

Zakri joined Ajax Cape Town while Hachi signed for Tebogo Moloi’s Chippa United.

“We have reached an agreement to loan out our two foreigners, Zakri at Ajax and Hachi at Chippa. We have kept Bangaly [Soumahoro], Ricardo came on and we still have [Razak] Brimah. So that’s the foreign quota we have,” Mosimane told the media during the unveiling of new players at Chloorkop today.

“We needed cover. Zulu has played for Bafana Bafana. He did not have a good start, but he has played for Bafana. He’s got potential, so he is in the right space. If he does well, then he can get a chance.

“Fares did not struggle so much. Offensively he has an edge on Langer [Tebogo Langerman], but defensively Langer comes out quicker with the speed because we play with the fullbacks that go out, so Langer ticked that box. Sometimes it takes time for a player to adjust. It took Leo [Leonardo Castro] a lot of time. It took Sibusiso Vilakazi a year to get there.

“Also you don’t want to have a lot of foreigners on the bench because you are killing local talent. When you bring a foreigner it must be something that we don’t have,” explained Mosimane.
