Pirates mum on appointment of new coach

Orlando Pirates are rumoured to be already making final arrangements in as far as finding a coach for the club is concerned

A source told Phakaaathi that negotiations have been going on but have been kept very secretive as management didn’t want it to affect interim coach Rulani Mokwena.

“The announcement might be made this weekend or early next week. It has been a neatly handled process with management putting a tight lid on it. What I have heard is that a new coach may be announced soon. But others have suggested that he will only take over after the summer break in January. I don’t have any names at this time because asking too many questions on it could raise suspicions,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Mokwena has hinted that his future at the club is out of his hands following another defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby this past weekend.

Amakhosi edged the Buccaneers 3-2 in a dramatic derby at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

After blasting Amakhosi for what he termed “thuggish behaviour” during a post-match interview, Mokwena said he still had a long way to go in coaching either in South Africa or outside of the country.
