Google adds holiday rentals to hotel search

Users can filter for price and amenities to find properties suitable for families, pets, or even based on the size of the kitchen.

Google has improved on its hotel search facilities and now allows short-term holiday rentals to appear on the search results as well.

The tech giant redesigned its mobile and desktop hotel search in 2018 to help users find hotels by price, location, and ratings, but now gives you a broader set of choices for lodging by expanding the hotel search to include a wider assortment of vacation rental properties from partners such as Expedia, HomeAway, VRBO, Hotels.com, RedAwning, and TripAdvisor.

To check out the listings, travellers can navigate to the hotel search page and filter for “vacation rentals” or click on the vacation rentals tip to surface suggestions on where to stay in their intended destination.

Users can filter for price and amenities to narrow their search and will be able to find properties suitable for families, pets, or even based on the size of the kitchen. They will also be able to browse photos, read reviews, and see rates and availability of the vacation rental property from the travel provider to help make the final decision.

The functionality is currently available for mobile devices and will roll out for desktops next month.
