Aldo Domeyer set to cash in on Greeff gig
Jockeys from outside the Friendly City can travel there again after a Covid scare and a number have jumped at the chance.

Fairview makes a welcome return to the racing roster after last week’s tangle with Covid. Jockeys from outside the Friendly City can travel there again and a number have jumped at the chance. Virus be damned.
PE regular Greg Cheyne is a notable absentee and his Cape Town compadre Aldo Domeyer steps in to fill the plumb riding slot with East Cape champion trainer Alan Greeff.
The ad hoc partnership should be rewarding, with several good chances on the 10-race Turf track card – including in the main event with prolific Marmara Sea.
Greeff and Domeyer are fancied to get on the scoreboard early, with Castello Campanula in Race 1. This filly by Flower Alley made an eye-catching debut in late July when second in a 1000m scurry. She’ll be a lot less jittery second time around and an extra 200m is gladly accepted.
Domeyer might be what’s needed to break a luckless run for Greeff charge Paris Opera in the second race. This filly has totted up a string of seconds in recent outings and needs something new to fire her up a notch. Then again, she might run second.
Lady Defiance in the sixth will be a popular choice among punters to post another result for the Greeff-Domeyer combo, before they get together with Marmara Sea in the seventh.
Thereafter, Oscar Wilde has winning credentials in the seventh, as does Teofilio in the ninth.
Princess Zena in the 10th is in tremendous form and could round off a red-letter day for the two gentlemen of the turf.
