Black Coffee’s son also enters DJ business

Black Coffee's eldest son, Esona, appears to be following in his daddy’s footsteps, according to Coffee’s recent Instagram post.

The award-winning DJ shared a screenshot of a conversation he was having with Esona, who had sent him a message to let him know that he, together with a friend, got paid after playing a set at an event, for the second time.

“Got paid for our second performance last night,” Esona messaged to his dad. “R500 and we split. We got to play what we wanted,” he continued, before stating to Black Coffee that their set had a few hiccups but in the end it all worked out well. “I kept on messing up the high and the low pass filters because when the beat is supposed to drop I’m supposed to put it back on to 0 but I wouldn’t look, I would just assume that it’s on 0 kanti it wasn’t and the drop didn’t kick as it was supposed to,” he explained.

In response, a delighted Black Coffee appeared to have been proud of his son, but furthermore guided him to invest his payment into his music. “Well done. Hope you invest your money back in your music,” he texted back to Esona. Coffee also explained to his son that he only started getting paid for gigs in his second year of DJing. “Never got paid for my second gig, in fact, I only started getting paid on the second year. Well done to you and your mate,” he added.

The muso further wrote that he doesn’t think his son will be pleased with him for posting the screenshot on Instagram. “Proud of Boy boy… he won’t be impressed with me posting this but guess who’s the Boss,” he wrote.
