Bonnie Mbuli denies shading Bonang over vineyard speculation

Bonnie claps back at a fan who accused her of shading Bonang.

Bonnie Mbuli has defended herself after making a joke about Bonang Matheba’s “Girls with Vineyards” saga.

Bonang made headlines a few days ago after her fans incorrectly assumed that she had bought a vineyard. Queen B set tongues wagging when she tweeted a picture of herself at the Rust en Vrede Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

“….I’ve always wanted a vineyard…” she captioned the image.

A short while later, the 30-year-old shared a video of herself signing a contract at the vineyard. Her fans put two and two together, and declared that Bonang had just bought a vineyard.

The hashtag, #GirlsWithVineyards, was soon trending on Twitter. But it turned out that B had not bought the vineyard, and was just having lunch there.

The confusion resulted in a hilarious challenge that saw people stating things they have always wanted, while pretending to sign contracts for them.

Bonnie Mbuli joined in the fun and tweeted: “I could be out here buying vineyards but I’m playing …”

Bonang’s fans were less than impressed with Bonnie’s remark, and called her a hater.

“So low! So Unnecessary!” one Twitter user commented.

Bonnie replied to the woman, telling her the comment was not that deep.

“We must be able to differentiate between joking about something that’s already in the public space VS throwing shade, it’s not that deep, grow up guys.”

Bonnie added that her joke was “not even personal”.

Phew, all this drama over a picture taken at a vineyard!
