‘Beautiful but sometimes scary’ – Melinda Bam opens up about motherhood
The former Miss SA tied the knot 8 years ago and welcomed her first born a few weeks back.

South African model and TV presenter Melinda Bam penned a lengthy post as she opened up about the ups and downs of motherhood.
Melinda is famously known for her remarkable presenting skills on SABC 2’s popular Afrikaans lifestyle show, Pasella.
Taking to Instagram, the mother of one said people seldom talk about the difficulties of motherhood. She highlighted that the glorious thing about motherhood is that you walk into the storm, excited to dance in the rain and eager to catch a glimpse of the sun crest around the clouds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I’ve learnt about motherhood experiencing it from a mom who loved, protected, taught, emboldened, and raised us fiercely! I have seen how that profoundly impacted my sister becoming a mom, and at last, I get to experience the transformation of motherhood firsthand as though the Potter’s hands have only now gilded me in gold,” she said.
The former Miss South Africa also added that being a mother changed her in ways that she never imagined. She said she still pinches herself in disbelief that she is a mother to a cute little man.⠀
“It is the greatest title I’ll ever have! A big love that is so overwhelming in the most wonderful way, beautiful, sometimes scary, awe-inspiring, step up to the plate, all-consuming, humbling, I-need-you-Jesus kind of love that makes time stand still and run away with you at the same time!” Melinda added.

Melinda announces pregnancy
In October last year, Melinda announced that she was expecting. She posted a cute snap of her and her husband holding baby scan photos with a heart-warming Bible verse caption.
“When the desires of our hearts, God’s will, and God’s timing align perfectly – earth shakes, light rushes in, and the heavens rejoice!
“Behold, children are a heritage and gift from the Lord, The fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Psalms 127:3-4 ” she wrote.
Married life
The beauty queen tied the knot with her husband, Adriaan Bergh, 8 years ago. Celebrating her 6th wedding anniversary back in 2020, Melinda posted her wedding pictures on Instagram and opened up about married life.
“Life cannot be more colourful and fragrant than with you, my husband. 6 years is like a blink when I think it all still feels just like yesterday. However, as I dig deeper and recall every beautiful memory, it feels like we have had a lifetime of adventures in a short time,” she wrote.
