Sharing birthing videos and serving looks: how Mzansi moms celebrated Mother’s Day
South African celeb moms took to social media on Sunday to celebrate themselves, their own mothers and all the other Mzansi moms on Mother’s Day in very unique ways.

While the idea behind Mother’s Day is for moms to be celebrated by their partners and kids, as this is a special day for them, some of South Africa’s most famous mothers took to their social media accounts to share how much they appreciate their families, but also to celebrate themselves and share what motherhood means to them.

Mzansi moms share heartfelt Mother’s Day messages
Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa
South African actress, TV presenter and fashion designer, Enhle Mbali, is mom to two sons, Anesu Maphumulo (12) and Asante Maphumulo (8), which she shares with DJ Black Coffee.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Enhle shared a video collage of some special moments she has shared with her children over the years.
“To the day you both entered the stage of life, you made every moment amazing. A million teachable moments at my grasp. It’s not about posting our every moments for the world to have a peak into us, but all the real moments that grow us closer. Thank you for making me a mother and a mom. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother moms out there,” the actress captioned her post.
Faith Nketsi-Njilo
South African influencer, model and media personality, Faith Nketsi celebrated her mom on Mother’s Day. The media personality welcomed her first baby with her husband Nzuzo Njilo in August 2022.
The reality television star, whose husband was arrested in April on fraud charges, spent the day with her mom and daughter.
“I thank you for being my best friend and at the same time, my protector. Thank you for your infinite love and support. Thank you for always being here for me and adding love to everything that you do. There’s so much I’m grateful for. I now understand more than ever how much you love us and how much you’ve sacrificed for us.
“I pray I can be as good as a mom you are to me to my Sky Sky. Happy Mother’s Day to us. Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to spend my first Mother’s Day with my mommy/best friend/protector/role model/my heart/my world. To many more. To Sky: I can’t wait for my first Mother’s Day breakfast girl,” Faith wrote alongside two photographs – one of her and her mom and Sky, and a second picture of just her and her mom.

Candice Swanepoel
South African model and philanthropist, Candice Swanepoel had tongues wagging when she shared a video clip of her giving birth back in October 2016 to commemorate Mother’s Day.
The former Victoria’s secret model, who has two children with her former ex-partner of 14 years, Hermann Nicoli, started the caption of her post, warning followers that the video content might be sensitive for some, but that it is the most personal content she has ever shared.
In a lengthy caption Swanepoel shared how she was in labour for 16 hours with her midwife and doctor supporting her throughout her pregnancy. The model said she chose to have her children in Brazil as that is where felt most connected to nature and her devine feminine power.
Blue Mbombo
Model turned influencer and former reality tv star, Blue Mbombo, gave birth to her baby girl, Marang Zalika Mbombo, in April 2022.
The first-time mom took to her social media accounts on Mother’s Day to celebrate herself on this special day, serving looks in several outfits showing off her mommy figure.
Sharing five pictures of herself holding her baby in her arms, the mom simply captioned her post ‘Mother’ with a white heart emoji.
Mihlali Ndamase
Influencer Mihlali Ndamase celebrated her mother on Mother’s Day by sharing a picture of the two of them slaying in black evening dresses.
“Happy Mother’s Day mama. I love you more than words can describe,” the content creator captioned her post.
