Nonhle Thema needs help – Khanyi Mbau
Twitter lit up when Khanyi Mbau appeared on SABC 3’s Tongue in Cheek. The Katch It With Khanyi talk show host told the panelist about an incident in Botswana, which resulted in Nonhle Thema losing her endorsement with an international shoe brand.

Mbau, who was with Thema at the time, said she was very shocked by Thema’s behaviour.
“She basically said that the guys who were with us shouldn’t go home with any of the girls in Botswana because they were all skinny, ugly and infected with HIV. At that point, we all just wanted to sink into the ground.”
Mbau said Nonhle was going through something and that she should not be judged too harshly.
“People like Nonhle need help. I think she is going through that ‘It girl’ phase.”
Mbau said that she identified with Nonhle as she understands what it’s like to be a popular It girl at one stage and then losing it all.
After breaking up with former millionaire Mandla Mthembu, Mbau tried very hard to hang on to the lavish lifestyle she was used to and to not be outdone.
“I would do anything to stay on top and stay relevant,” she recalls. “Even sleep with married men” – referring to her affair with business man Theunis Crous.
