Ezomshado: MaCele and MaKhumalo to kick off the new year with a new show

Mzansi Wethu believes their time in a successful polygamous marriage makes MaCele and MaKhumalo the perfect choice for Ezomshado.

Uthando Nes’thembu stars MaCele and MaKhumalo Mseleku have secured themselves a new gig as the hosts of an intervention show aimed at giving marriages a fighting chance. The Mzansi Wethu reality show will be called Ezomshado and it will begin in mid-January 2023.

“As coveted as the wedding ring might be for many couples (and singles), marriage isn’t an easy journey,” explained the channel in a statement.

After six seasons on a hit show focused solely on their blended family under a polygamous union, the channel believes that no one understands this better than Busisiwe “MaCele” Mseleku and Thobile “MaKhumalo” Mseleku.

‘The perfect choice’

“As the stars of Uthando Nes’thembu (and Real Housewives of Durban), MaCele and Thobile have successfully and famously been navigating a polygamous marriage for several seasons on our screens. This makes them the perfect choice for a show which stages interventions for married or engaged couples facing challenges on what is an important journey in their lives,” said the channel in a statement.

Their mission on Ezomshado will be to help build successful and intimate relationships, one couple at a time.

“Spinoff shows are always a great addition to a channel’s line-up, but they have to resonate with the people being featured in order to add something authentically good to the content slate. Having a brand-new reality show on Mzansi Wethu featuring two of our most popular reality stars felt like the natural next step, especially considering the topic at hand and that both women are known as being strong advocates for healthy relationships. We can’t wait to see how the audience receives this show,” commented Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

Relevant experts will weigh in

The channel further assured that although the daring talk show discusses captivating and relatable topics on all matters of the heart with the popular Mseleku wives (MaCele and MaKhumalo), it won’t just be he-said, she-said on Ezomshado.

“Where needed, other sources will share insight into a couple’s situation, before the relevant experts weigh in with guidance meant to empower partners and strengthen their relationships.”

With new marriage numbers on the decline and divorce rates increasing, Mzansi Wethu believes that a show centred around helping those who want to save their partnerships couldn’t be more timely.

New broadcast date

The new Mzansi Wethu reality series Ezomshado – hosted by MaCele and MaKhumalo – will premiere on DStv Channel 163 on Sunday, 22 January at 9 pm.

It was previously meant to air on 15 January, however, it had to be delayed by a week due to the longer duration of the Big Brother Titans premiere.
