WATCH: Somizi gives Thabo his flowers on Idols SA

Season 19 contestant, Thabo, performed with a lot of emotion, touching both the audience and the judges deeply.

The Top 6 Idols SA contestants had a tough competition to get votes from the public and reach the Top 2 or even win the Idols SA Season 19 Farewell title.

During a thrilling night of performances, contestants started with songs from their initial auditions and later sang songs by Grammy Award winners.

While all the contestants were striving to give their best, Thabo’s performance shone brightly, deeply moving the audience and leaving a strong impression on the judges.

For his first performance of the night, Thabo sang the song I want to know what love is by Foreigner, and it had the audience singing along.

Then, in his second performance, he sang In Love with Another Man by Jazmine, which brought judges Somizi Mhlongo and Thembi Seete to tears.

After watching Thabo’s performance, Somizi said he had never seen someone try so hard before and got emotional.

“I’ve never seen someone fight so hard. You’ve proven that the divine truly exists through music,” said Somizi.

Thabo’s journey on Idols SA season 19

Since the start of Idols SA Season 19 Farewell, Thabo has consistently improved his performances every Saturday, giving his all.

While all the remaining contestants are talented, after this Saturday’s performance, it appears many South Africans have already chosen their winner, both in their minds and through their votes.

On social media, many expressed their views on Thabo’s performances, seeing him as the likely winner of the Idols SA Season 19 Farewell title.

Performances from other contestants

While Thabo garnered a lot of attention throughout on Saturday, the other contestants also earned positive feedback from the judges for their performances.

Envic stepped onto the stage and performed Nathi’s Nomvula.

For his second performance, he gave a sincere rendition of David Foster’s When a Man Loves a Woman.

Capturing Somizi’s attention and stirring his emotions, Somizi said: “You are destined for stardom.”

JR Bogopa offered guidance on refining his stage performance skills.

Faith’s performance

Faith performed Daniel Caesar’s Best Part and later danced to Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing. However, the evening did not go entirely as planned for him.

Somizi criticised the performance by saying: “You must grasp the essence of a hit song while Thembi Seete expressed worries regarding the song’s arrangement.

Niikiey’s performance

Niikiey sang Inkanyezi by Mondli Ngcobo and followed it with Knocks You Down by Keri Hilson.

Thembi praised her remarkable versatility, while Somizi highlighted her unique and powerful voice, encouraging her to stay true to her talent.

Nkosi’s performance

Nkosi chose to perform Samkelo’s version of Seal’s Kiss From A Rose, but his rendition of John Legend’s All of Me didn’t meet the judges’ expectations.

Somizi observed a decline in his confidence, and JR felt the performance lacked emotional depth.

Princess’ performance

Wrapping up the show with a strong comeback, Princess sang Beyoncé’s Dangerously in Love and followed it with a compelling rendition of Alicia Keys’ Falling.

“You blew the roof off tonight. You showed me that South Africa has talent that can compete globally,” declared JR, praising her incredible act.
