Ethiopian national shot in shop
The SAPS are investigating a case of murder after Abara Bayen (34) died from his wounds on Thursday September 30.

The police received a report from Lydenburg Hospital that Bayen had died at about 20:35. According to the police, Bayen was admitted to the hospital with a bullet wound in his stomach and back. He was an Ethiopian national. He had visible injuries on his face. “According to witnesses on the scene, three men entered the store in Voortrekker Street where Bayen worked. They wore balaclavas and shot Bayen,” said Capt Kaizer Moela, the Lydenburg SAPS spokesperson.
Col Lota Motsileng, the Lydenburg SAPS station commander, said he and his management were highly disturbed by this senseless act. He appeal to people who might have information about this incident to share it with the police. The suspects have not yet been charged and an investigation is pending.
