SPONSORED | Nkomazi Local Municipality sends its best wishes to all mothers

Local Municipality’s executive mayor recently wished all the mothers in Nkomazi the best for Mother’s Day.

Nkomazi Local Municipality’s executive mayor, Cllr Phindile Magagula, sends her well wishes to mothers all over Nkomazi ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday May 12.

Magagula has reiterated that being a mother goes beyond giving birth, as it embodies so many elements of nurturing and caregiving. “We see mothers waking up early in the mornings to ensure that they do everything in their power to take care of the people around them. Mothers are able to put themselves last while giving everything to their loved ones. As we celebrate this auspicious day, I just want to remind all the mothers out there that we love them, we appreciate them, and we see them,” said Magagula.

These are part of the municipality’s efforts ensuring that the lives of women, particularly mothers in the municipalities are made easier, especially in business

She further added that the municipality is proud of the mothers who take the initiative to get into business, agriculture and different sectors to empower themselves. “In an economy where the cost of living is so high, there are mothers who have taken the initiative to get involved in the agricultural sector. Through our Local Economic Development, we have worked with a number of women and helped them to commercialise their farming. We have given them aid such as tanks, seedlings and many other things. We have also built some stalls for women who are informal traders. These are part of the municipality’s efforts ensuring that the lives of women, particularly mothers in the municipalities are made easier, especially in business.”

With less than 20 days left for South Africa to go to the polls on May 29, Magagula has encouraged women to come out in their numbers to cast their votes for a political party of their choice. “I cannot overemphasise how important it is for women to flood those voting stations on May 29 to cast their vote. Our freedom did not come cheap.

Lives were lost and blood was shed intensively. For one not to vote would be an insult on the faces of freedom stalwarts such as Charlotte Maxeke, Adelaide Tambo, Winnie Mandela and every woman who played a motherly role in liberating the people of South Africa. I challenge every mother, every woman, to stand up on the 29th and exercise their constitutional right by counting themselves in,” she added.
