Photo gallery: A royal time for all the Guardian Angels in an enchanted garden

The annual Ladies Let's Have Tea made for a royal affair the Angels won't soon forget.

With all the crowns and sceptres, this event could easily have been mistaken for a high-tea party at Windsor Palace.

The Mbombela branch of Guardian Angels treated its members to a royal affair at their annual Let’s Have Tea fund-raiser on Thursday.

The party, aptly themed Royal Tea, was populated with tsarinas, princesses and queens of all ages and centuries. The revelry took place in the enchanting gardens of Emnotweni Sun.

About 250 people joined in on the Guardian Angels’ biggest fund-raising event of the year based solely on ticket sales. Tickets cost R220 and guests were automatically entered into a lucky draw in which they could win one of 45 prizes.

“This day has been one full of spirit of laughter and an amazing sense of togetherness and community,” Ms Karen Bullen told Lowvelder.

I love living in this city, mostly because of the undying sense of community I have found here. Events like these just go to show how strong that sense of community is.

Magda de Wet (85) delivered a striking performance on her violin and during courses of cupcakes, chocolate brownies and quiches, the women were able to delight in a fashion show, tailored to their particular tastes.

Dresses and outfits by local designers catering to the fuller or older figures, were showcased by models of all shapes and sizes.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors who were beyond incredible, for making this day happen and for making it so pleasant and easy for us to enjoy ourselves here,” said Mbombela Angel, Jacqui Tournois.
