Mrs South Africa graced the city with her presence last weekend
MBOMBELA – It was an exciting weekend when reigning queen of Mrs South Africa 2017, Hlengiwe Twala, graced the Lowveld with her presence. Twala is currently on the second weekend of her nationwide roadshow tour to meet and inspire potential entrants for the competition. Interested parties were able to gain valuable advice from the reigning queen.
Joined by Mrs Charity, Clair Gardner, the weekend was an absolute success. The roadshow weekend started with a meet and greet on Saturday morning, which was hosted at Curves in Sonpark, one of the sponsors of the Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa. Curves was created specifically for women, offering a complete fitness and nutrition solution, and believes in strengthening females. “It feels wonderful to be back here with our new Mrs South Africa,” said Mrs South Africa CEO, Joani Johnson.

“It is such a beautiful city. Our main goal is to motivate women and to create awareness around the programme. We want to make sure that we reach everyone, and give everyone an equal opportunity. We are very grateful to Jacques Lombard for arranging this weekend.” Lombard from the Timeless Group, organiser of the roadshow weekend to Mbombela, was also in attendance. “This is the second year that Mbombela has welcomed Mrs South Africa,” he said. “It is wonderful that they come and visit our beautiful province, and get women involved and inspired to enter.
It is not just for a certain demographic; it is for any married woman aged between 25 and 50 in our community.” Females who were interested in taking part were able to meet with Twala, and chat to her about how to enter. It was a busy day for the team, as they also visited Radio Lowveld and Weylandts, sharing its inspiration and passion for the programme.

The weekend ended at Emnotweni on Sunday, where a complimentary motivational workshop offered attendees first-hand mentoring. The workshop also included a special question-and-answer session focusing on the opportunities women had when they entered the pageant. Entries close on March 1.
“I’m so excited to share my story with them,” Twala said. “I am a woman for women, and believe that we need to empower and trust one another. Sometimes we neglect ourselves, being a wife and a mother, and I want to show women how they can lead the best lives focusing on their families, and themselves too, and not being overwhelmed by it all.
